Her popularity is due to the fact that she was the lead actress in Whedon's subsequent TV series, Firefly. Summer Glau played River Tam effortlessly. Glau was an excellent actress. Summer Glau's character in Tam's film was compelled to take part in government-sponsored tests to help her prepare for the role of an ideal assassin. Tam's capacity to control her emotions has been taken from her. Glau was able to display not just her acting talents, but her combat skills in Firefly. Her experience as an assassin provided her with the chance to utilize the full range of athletic skills she has. Summer Glau's classical training is what makes her an extremely skilled ballerina. Her broken toe, however, that put an end to her dancing career. Firefly was only on for only one season but it gained a huge audience. The fans of Whedon were so enthusiastic that Whedon returned to it two years later. Summer Glau, however, continued to receive quality work.
